Winter had arrived. The first glimmer of sunlight

Winter had arrived. The first glimmer of sunlight in the morning brought a pale pink glow to the world and the meadows were decorated with crystals. The hearth fire crackled with warmth and gentle fog lingered on the windowpane.
Was it all a dream? It came back to her in waves. The muddy hem of her dress. The moonlight on his skin. His hand in her hair. No, just a dream she told herself.
And yet she lingered by the window as she sipped her morning tea. Waiting for him to show himself. Her fairy lover.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this photo. Do you think the girl is happy or sad. Is she a ghost? What does it make you feel? What story is it telling?
Most of the time, when I look at a photo (mine or someone else's) my imagination quickly creates a mini-story about it, but although I love this image, no story came readily to mind. Eventually, I thought of a girl longing for her fairy lover.

"Another name for Halloween is 'Nut-crack Night,' inspired by fortune-telling customs popular at Samhain in Northern England and Scotland.
As the chill of autumn drew in, people might sit around their fires eating hazelnuts or chestnuts or throwing them into the fire. One might give each nut a value (like yes or no, 'loves me' or 'loves me not'), or the name of a possible sweetheart and watch to see which burned the brightest, or cracked first as an indicator of an answer. Or observing the movement of the nuts as drawing closer or moving apart from one another.

I'm so grateful for the friendships I’ve made he

I'm so grateful for the friendships I’ve made here with people all over the world. It’s so beautiful to be able to connect, share stories, and create & share art together. Thank you for every comment, story reply, and conversation.
The two things I value most here are art and connection. With that in mind, I’ve been working on a new project that I hope will allow for deeper conversations, stronger friendships, a beautiful, safe community, and of course lots of art and folklore.
