Stolen moments on the edge of autumn… Stolen moments on the edge of autumn…
One legend tells the story of how goldenrod receiv One legend tells the story of how goldenrod received its bright yellow flowers. An old woman, traveling through the forest, was growing weary. She asked all of the trees around her for a walking stick, but they refused. She found a small stick on the ground, and asked it for help instead. The stick agreed, and she used it as a walking stick until she was out of the woods. As soon as she stepped beyond the tree line, she shed her disguise — revealing herself as a powerful fairy. In return for the stick’s help, she sprinkled it with gold.

I just finished reading this book and loved it so much! I enjoyed reading about the main characters deep connection to the forest and her love for her brothers. A bit of magic, a bit of adventure, a bit of romance. Swoon! I can’t wait to read the next two books in the series…

Goldenrod has a reputation as a magical herb. It h Goldenrod has a reputation as a magical herb. It has traditionally been used as a divining rod to help in finding hidden springs of water.
There is quite a bit of lore around the harvesting of the divining rod. The goldenrod must be cut after sunset and before sunrise and only on certain holidays, the first night of a new moon, or that preceding it. The person harvesting the rod was to face the East, ensuring that the goldenrod being harvested was one that caught the first rays of the morning sun, otherwise it would be valueless.
Some lore suggests that only certain people would be able to wield the goldenrod as a divining rod, such as the seventh son of a seventh son.

The salt wind dances through your hair as the waves sing against the rocky shore. The smell of wet wool and gentle mist fill the air as you make your way into the seaside cottage where old books perch haphazardly on shelves and herbs hang from the ceilings. Candlelight fills the room as folktales are whispered by the hearth. Sitting by the open window you hear a soft, whispering voice dancing on the wind. There is magic here. Old magic.
I’ve decided to change my username to Heard on the Wind. For me it represents the moments in life I have felt most blissful, peaceful, and alive all at once. Moments standing on the edge of a seaside cliff on a wild island in the middle of nowhere as the wind rushes against my face, my arms open wide. Moments sitting quietly on my porch at dawn drinking a warm cup of tea and listening to the trees speaking as the wind rustles their leaves. Small moments and big moments alike. It’s the sudden spark of an idea, a feeling of oneness with the earth, an exhilarating wildness, and a touch of the otherworldly all at once.
I’m still living in my cozy cottage on a misty isle and I’ll still be creating and sharing the same art I have been, just under a new name. With that said, perhaps now would be the right time for an updated introduction.
Hi! I’m Ariana. I live a slow and simple life on a forested island in the North Atlantic making friends with the animals that visit my home, baking fragrant loaves of bread, sitting under old oak trees reading books as the birds sing, knitting warm sweaters, and living in harmony with the seasons and the cycles of the moon.
I love to spend time dreaming of magical worlds that are both peaceful and mysterious. It is these dream worlds that I invite you to enter though my photography. Often drawing inspiration from folklore, mythology, and romanticism, it is my hope that my photographs bring you a sense of calm enchantment and welcome you into poetic worlds of mystery and wonder.
Running off into the forest to stumble into a fair Running off into the forest to stumble into a fairytale. I’ll become a witch of the wood. I’ll live in a thatched roof stone cottage with sweet smelling herbs hanging from the rafters. My days will be spent brewing potions, baking bread, and tending my garden. I’ll have sheep and chickens and a black cat named Avalina. I’ll be wise and knowledgeable in ancient lore and will spend nights under the full moon dancing with the Fair Folk. Who’s with me?
