The selkie is a mythical creature found in tales across the North Atlantic from the shores of Ireland to the remote Faroe Islands. She is a seal who, on the night of the full moon, is able to shed her skin and take the form of a human woman. As the tale often goes, a man steals the selkie seal skin while she is in her human form, and convinces her to marry him. Many years later, while the man is away from home, the selkie finds her skin and returns to her native world.
The Selkie Cowl is inspired by women’s connection to the story of the selkie. We too have a yearning to return to our natural element. To shed this world that is over reliant on reason and to embrace the intuitive. To return to nature. The Selkie Cowl represents the magic that resides within our souls. It inspires you to embrace the feminine qualities of dreaming, creativity, and community.

How to Wear
The Selkie Cowl can be worn in numerous ways. It is a fun piece to play around with to find your favorite style. Two of my favorites are shown in the photos. The first is pulled down around your upper arms. The second is as a bulky infinity scarf.
