I think winter is making up for the mild season we

I think winter is making up for the mild season we've had, because as I write this even more snow is falling - that makes 4 big snowfalls in the last 2 weeks!
Although spring now seems a long way off, inside my little cottage tiny green sprouts have poked their way through brown soil in search of light and warmth. This is the first year that I'm attempting to grow seedlings indoors to transplant in my garden once the threat of frost has past. By doing so, I'm hoping to give my little plants more time to grow and flourish.
I have all sorts of yummy vegetables planted and am hoping to plant some herbs today as I watch the snow fall outside.
I've only had my little vegetable patch and herb garden for about two years and it seems like there's always so much more to learn.
Do you like to garden? What's your favorite thing to grow? Do you have any advice for a newbie gardener?

Today’s my birthday and the most beautiful snow is falling outside! The woods are completely transformed into a magical world and when I stand there looking up into the falling snow drifting down from the endless white sky it’s as if nothing else exists but this moment of infinitude.
Snowfall has this way of making me feel present. Is there a certain event or activity that helps you to feel present?

It looks like earth is not quite ready to emerge from its winter slumber. Just a few days ago, I could feel spring on the air, but now snow is falling and the woods have once again been transformed into a magnificent land of ice and frost. As much as I'm ready for spring, I'm excited to venture out into the woods today to smell the scent of snow and feel its magic.
